After the stand-down of the Civil Defence Corps in March 1968, local authorities were still obliged to make preparations and to plan for the event of a nuclear war. Many authorities did absolutely nothing! In response after twelve years of inactivity by central government, the Protect and Survive booklet was issued to all households in the UK in 1980. At the same time a series of films was produced with the same overall title. These films were to be broadcast in the period of tension that was thought to be likely before the outbreak of hostilities. This film details what to put in your fallout room.
